Winter Reading runs from January 15 - March 15 each year and is a low-key, cozy online program for preK - 5th graders in collaboration with the Amesbury public elementary schools. Find out about events, prizes, and other activities during this program below.

For families in the Amesbury public elementary schools, you can find the bingo sheets to download below. 
You can also pick one up at the public library or your school libraries!

This program is in collaboration with the Amesbury Public Elementary Schools! Benny Reading (Winter Reading 2026)

Pick up Registration Packets starting January 16th with fun activities and items in the Library!

The Program:

  • You can do either or both a virtual program and/or a paper bingo sheet that you can pick up at the Public Library or your School Library or download below.
  • Take part in the bingo sheet program by just filling out the bingo sheet!
  • Register for the virtual program through the Beanstack app. If you’ve used it for any program, you can use the same account and just choose this current program. 
  •  Do six badges in either and earn a FREE BOOK!  
  • You can earn one Free Book in each program, if you choose.  
  • You can get your free book for the bingo sheet at either the Public Library or your School Library 
  • The virtual program will also enter you into a raffle for cozy and fun prizes when you earn online badges through out the program!

Other Activities at the Public Library: 

Find the SNOWFLAKES around the Library! 

Each week we will have snowflake suncatchers around the Library for you to find. If you find one, you get to keep it and get a little paint kit to decorate it at the Youth Service desk! We will have signs that let you know how many are left hiding or if they have been found for the week. Please only one per child for this Winter Reading activity!  

Weekly Crafts!

Each week on Wednesday we'll feature a new winter themed craft in the Kids' Room! These crafts will be up for the week and you can stop by any time to do them!

Find the Benny the Bean Downtown!

Our winter creature is back! Find the Bean in the windows of downtown businesses and come back to the Library or email us to tell us where you found it! Each week he will move and each week you can get a cool sticker and a raffle ticket to possibly win Benny at the end of the program! You also have a chance to win a Toy Soldier Gift Card each week you find him as well! Benny the Bean starts on January 15 and moves every Wednesday until March 15th! NEED A HINT? New this year, we will post a picture in the Library and on social media with a close up detail of the business he is hiding in so you can see if you can match it!
