Book Club Card and Material Requests
Amesbury Public Library can assist you with leading your own book club by requesting items and serving as a pickup location for club materials.
Teachers looking for books for a school-based book club, visit our Educator Resources page.
Apply for a book club card using our printable application (PDF) or online application.
Choose your titles
In the book club card application, you tell us which titles you want for your next few meetings. When you’re ready to order your next few meetings’ batches of titles, fill out and submit another request with the printable materials request form (PDF) or online materials request form. Submit title requests at least one month prior to when they are needed for pickup.
Amesbury Public Library also offers a wide selection of Book Club Kits, ready with 15 copies of a title as well as discussion questions and a sign-out sheet in an easy-to-carry canvas bag. You can browse and reserve these with your personal account at any time by contacting the reference desk for assistance.
Once we set up your account, we use it to request your book club’s titles from our network, Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC). The library will request copies of the title so that they arrive about a month before the meeting when that title is scheduled for discussion.
If there are not enough available copies of the title the book club wants to read, a staff member will reach out to the club contact to discuss options. We are happy to suggest alternate titles.
Pick up at the library
We notify the club contact once their batch of items have arrived at the library.
Book Club Kits
Book Club Kits are held for 1 week.
Kits are reserved and checked out with your personal account rather than the club card. They check out for six weeks with no renewals.
Non-kit Materials
Items will be held through the date of the book club meeting.
Each member may pick up a copy individually at the circulation desk and check it out on their personal MVLC library card.
Alternatively, the club contact may check out all items on their personal card. They will be responsible for all item charges.
