Program goes from June 20th - August 9th (sign up anytime online between June 20th and Aug 1st) (Kids from AES and CES can log until August 31st for school)
Make sure to come in for your reading passport KIDS AGES 0 - 12 are welcome to join We're reading for Heifer International this year so the more you read, the more aniamls we can donate to familes around the world. (Psst...Topsfield Fair tickets are back again this year....)
We're traveling around the world this summer and here's what you need to know for the trip (if this seems like to much of a journey, remember you can do only some of it. Do what you'd like and just have fun reading and exploring this summer!):
You can Sign Uponline (or in the Library) and then track your reading hours throughout the summer. We are reading for Heifer International this year and for every five hours you read, you can vote on which animals will be chosen to be sent to families in need around the world. The more hours read, the more animals we can donate! You can vote online or in the Library. Also, for every five hours you can put a sticker on your suitcase in our stairway. Then come to the End of the Summer Reading Party on August 9th and celebrate with ice cream and a small reading reward.
There is a Reading Passport that you can pick up at the Library after you’ve signed up. You will find travel tickets inside! Each week you can read a book about a different country or from authors around the world (and many of these can be found on your summer reading lists for school!), draw a map, color a flag, or anything to explore the world! Just bring in a ticket each week to get a stamp from a different continent. You can also get stamps for attending program and finding Rocky the Penguin. If collect all six stamps (one each week) you get to pick out a free book!
Rocky the Rockhopper Penguin will be traveling around town. Each week (starting on Tuesday June 28th and moving every Tuesday until August 9th) Rocky will be in a different window in the downtown area (this include down to Riverwalk Beads all the way to Phat Cats Bistro and up to Main Street with the Fire Station). He will be reading a different book each week. All you need to do is find him, come into the library and tell us where he was and what he was reading, and you’ll get entered into a raffle for ice cream, bowling, and donut coupons!
Fourth, Events…from our kick-off party to our end of summer party we have a summer full of special performers with puppets, live animals, art projects and we have crafts, origami and storytimes! Check them out at our event calendar HERE!
