POETRY CONTEST!

9th Annual
Poetry Contest!

Explore the world through poetry! Enter any kind of poem (free-verse, haiku, rhyming...) that explores the world you live in!

K-4th graders submit your work in our annual poetry contest and then attend the Poetry Party on Sunday, May 15th At 2:30pm at the Amesbury Cultural Center.

DEADLINE: APRIL 30th, 2011

Contest Rules & Information

· You do not have to live in Amesbury to enter the contest.

· You may only enter ONE poem. If two or three poets write ONE poem, they can’t enter another poem.
· You may enter a poem written for school.

· If you entered a poem in last year’s contest and it won a prize, please do not enter it again.

· You can only enter a poem that is written by you, not someone else. Anyone caught plagiarizing will be disqualified.

· All poems will be displayed on the grand staircase (with poet’s permission). 

· Judges will pick the winners. The Judges will only know the poet‘s grade (not the poet’s name or anything else that might influence their decision). 

· Judges will be anonymous until the Poetry Party.

· Entries must NOT be larger than 8 1/2 x 11.

· Deadline: Saturday, April 30, 2011.  Poems received after the deadline will not be considered.
